Museo Egizio Tickets & Prices: What to Expect at the Turin Egyptian Museum

Booking tickets for the Museo Egizio is straightforward once you know what the options mean. This guide breaks down every ticket category, the real cost of guided access, what’s included at each level, and what to expect on the day — so there are no surprises at the door.

Standard Admission Prices

The following prices are the Museo Egizio’s base admission fees as of 2026, sold directly through the museum’s own website:

The student rate of €3 is the one most visitors under 26 want: it covers 15- to 18-year-olds and university students on presentation of a valid student ID at the entrance. The €15 reduced rate is narrower than people expect — it applies to over-70s and registered journalists, not to students or general concessions.

The family ticket (€36) covers two adults and two minors, and is the better deal for any family of four with children over 6.

The “Be the First” early-access ticket (€25) opens the museum at 8:00am, a full hour before the standard doors. You get 40 minutes with the collection essentially to yourself — a remarkable experience with the Ramesses II statue and the tomb of Kha in silence — before the regular flow of visitors begins at 9:00am. It runs as a periodic special on announced date windows rather than every day, places are deliberately limited, and reduced rates, free admissions, the Abbonamento Musei and the Torino+Piemonte Card are not valid for it. Entry is free for under-6s, for visitors with a disability plus one companion, and for ICOM members, Abbonamento Musei holders and Torino+Piemonte Card holders.

Family tours (€38) are designed specifically for children aged 5–12. They use interactive storytelling and age-appropriate explanations of mummies and hieroglyphs. The pace is calibrated for younger visitors, with regular pauses and hands-on activities. This is not a shortened adult tour; it is a different, purpose-built programme.

Private tours (€120) give you and your group an exclusive two hours with a certified Egyptologist. The route adapts entirely to your interests — if you want to spend extra time in the papyrus gallery, you spend extra time in the papyrus gallery. Ideal for couples, anniversaries, families with very specific interests, and corporate visits.

Not included in any ticket: the museum shop and the café. Note that the cloakroom is currently suspended for renovation work — you cannot deposit jackets, bags, umbrellas or luggage, and suitcases, trolleys and large backpacks are not allowed inside at all. A small number of unreservable lockers take school-sized backpacks. Travel light.

Dress Code

There is no formal dress code. Comfortable, casual clothing is appropriate. The museum is indoors throughout all four floors; the one planted courtyard is a decompression spot rather than part of the route, so no weather considerations apply.

Photography Policy

Personal photography without flash is permitted throughout the museum, including in the mummy galleries and the Temple of Ellesiya. Tripods and professional lighting equipment are not permitted without prior authorisation from the museum’s press office. Video recording for personal use is generally permitted; commercial filming requires a separate licence.

Accessibility

The Museo Egizio is accessible for wheelchair users and visitors with reduced mobility. Lifts provide access to all four floors. Pushchairs and strollers are permitted throughout the museum. Because the cloakroom is suspended, there is nowhere to leave large bags or oversized pushchairs — bring only what you are willing to carry through the galleries, and expect a bag check before the ticket desk.

Hearing loops are available at the information desk. Tactile experiences for visually impaired visitors can be arranged in advance by contacting the museum directly.

Practical Notes

The museum café is located on the ground floor and serves coffee, light lunches, and pastries. It is open during museum hours. The museum shop — one of the best-stocked Egyptological shops in Europe — is also on the ground floor and does not require a museum ticket to enter.

Toilets are available on multiple floors. There is no cloakroom at present — it is suspended for renovation — so large bags, suitcases and trolleys cannot be brought in or left behind.
